Shane Boose (born July 5, 2005), mononymously known as Sombr, is an American singer and songwriter. He released his debut single "Nothing Left to Say" in 2021, and his first EP In Another Life in 2023, co-produced by Tony Berg, through Warner Records and Sombr's own imprint SMB.
In 2025, "Back to Friends" and "Undressed" gained virality on the video-sharing app TikTok and became Sombr's breakout hits, leading to his first appearances on multiple charts across the world, including the Billboard Hot 100.
Early life
Shane Boose was born on July 5, 2005, in New York City, and raised on the Lower East Side. He attended LaGuardia High School as a vocal major but dropped out when he was 17 years old, after releasing "Caroline" as a junior in 2022. He is currently based in Los Angeles, California.
Career
He began his music career with the release of his debut single "Nothing Left to Say" in October 2021. In September 2023, he released his debut EP, In Another Life, which was co-produced by Tony Berg. In March 2025, "Back to Friends" and "Undressed" gained popularity after going viral on the video-sharing app TikTok, resulting in increased on-demand streams and chart appearances in multiple countries. In the United States, the songs peaked at numbers 50 and 56, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100. Both songs also entered the Billboard Global 200 and have peaked within the top 50. Additionally, "Undressed" reached the top five in Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand.
On March 28, 2025, Sombr exceeded 10 million active monthly listeners on Spotify. Less than a month later, on April 21, it surpassed 20 million. "Back to Friends" became his first song to reach 100 million streams on the platform, achieving the milestone on April 19, 2025. Three days later, his 2023 single "Would've Been You" also surpassed 100 million streams.
On April 23, 2025, Sombr announced his first solo tour, spanning North America and Europe. The tour is scheduled to begin on May 25 in Ireland and conclude on October 28 in Los Angeles.
