In Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye, you investigate a hidden ringworld spacecraft called The Stranger. Its alien inhabitants (the Owlks) once worshipped the Eye of the Universe, but grew terrified upon learning it would cause the end of all things. They blocked its signal and retreated into a digital simulation, where one dissident was imprisoned for trying to free the signal.
