Expedition 33 sets out to stop the Paintress, who annually erases people of a certain age, but the expedition is nearly wiped out upon arrival by the old man Renoir. The survivors, led by Gustave and Maelle, must make their way through a strange land, uncovering the history of past failed expeditions and their connection to the Paintress. Along the way, they are aided by a mysterious entity called the Curator, who is the father of the original Expedition 33 member, Verso, and seeks to destroy the Paintress and the canvas world she created.
